She has spent her career ensuring that every person—regardless of background—receives fair treatment under the law. Ashley’s legal career has been defined by her passion for protecting the rights of the most vulnerable members of our community. As a public defender, she has represented individuals facing serious charges, fighting for due process and equitable outcomes in the justice system. Her experience has given her a firsthand understanding of how the courts impact people’s lives—not just the individuals accused of crimes, but their families and the broader community.
In addition to her work in the courtroom, Ashley serves as General Counsel for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, where she advocates for policies that empower women and promote equity. She is also a board member of AFSCME Local 3315, working to protect the rights of union members, and a member of both the Black Women Lawyers’ Association and the Cook County Bar Association, fostering mentorship and professional development within the legal community.

She later earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, where she honed her legal skills and prepared for a career dedicated to serving others.
Beyond her legal work, Ashley is passionate about building stronger communities. She believes in rehabilitation, restorative justice, and creating opportunities for those who have come into contact with the legal system. She hopes to deepen her involvement with community organizations, reentry programs, and initiatives that support meaningful second chances.
Ashley is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, an organization committed to service, scholarship, and sisterhood. Her dedication to service extends beyond the courtroom, as she continuously seeks ways to uplift and support her community.
Ashley’s approach to justice is simple: a system that strengthens and restores communities. She envisions a court that is not just a place where cases are decided, but one that fosters fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all. Ashley is a proud mother and a firm believer in the power of connection and service. She is running for judge to ensure that the courts reflect the values of justice, integrity, and community care.
